SAUNTON, England – The R&A Senior Amateur Championship is in the books from Saunton (East and West Courses) in England. To say scoring was difficult would be an understatement. High winds, particularly crosswinds, provided plenty of challenge along with thick rough and firm putting surfaces at Saunton. Congratulations on a come from behind victory to Todd White, of Spartanburg, SC, as he matched the low round of the final day with a 2-under par 69 to win by one over Brent Paterson of New Zealand. White finished with a total score of 68-78-76-69 for a total of 291 (+7) to take home the hardware.
Gene Elliott, of Norwalk, IA, fired a final round of even par 71, good enough to lead the group of Society of Seniors members and finish in a tie for fourth place at +10 total. Randy Haag, of Orinda, CA, found red numbers in the final round with a 1-under 70 to finish in a tie for eighth place at +13. Finishing in a tie for 17th place were both Robert Gerwin, of Cincinnati, OH, and Paul Simson, of Raleigh, NC, while Jack Hall, of Savannah, GA, and Chip Lutz, of Reading, PA, each finished in a tie for 20th place.
Congratulations to all Society of Seniors members that competed in the 2024 R&A Senior Amateur Championship.
