DURHAM, N.C. – On Tuesday at the 42nd Dale Morey Championship hosted by Treyburn Country Club, players were treated to clear blue skies and 80-degree temperatures with a light breeze. Stan Humphries (Monroe, LA) matched the low round of the tournament thus far with a 4-under par 68 on moving day and now sits 5-under for the tournament to lead by one. Humphries shook off an early bogey at No. 3 (par 4, 375 yards) and made back-to-back birdies on No. 5 and No. 6, as well as No. 10 and No. 11. His final birdie of the day came at the par five No. 15 and he parred in for a back nine 33.
Overnight leader Lee Porter (Pinehurst, NC) played steady golf on Tuesday en route to an even par 72 and sits just one shot behind Humphries headed into the final round. John Bearrie (Marana, AZ) will round out the final grouping as he also made a move in round two with a fine round of 3-under par 69 to sit at 1-under for the tournament.
The final round gets underway tomorrow at 8:00 a.m.
