RESULTS: 5th National Super Senior Championship
NORTH PLAINS, Oregon – It was a soggy finish to the second round at the 5th National Super Senior Championship hosted by Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club in North Plains, Oregon. Temperatures dropped overnight and a steady rain settled over the North Plains region as players made the turn on Wednesday. Play had to be halted for approximately two hours for the rain to slow down and allow drainage on the putting surfaces.
Tom Brandes, of Bellevue, WA, continues to lead and now sleeps on a six-stroke lead heading into tomorrow’s final round. Brandes carded the low round of the day with even par 71 in the challenging conditions. Coupled with his 67 in round one, he is at four-under, 138 for the two days.
Greg Goode, of Salina, KS, sits in second place at +2 after solid rounds of 71-73. In a tie for third place, Hollis Sullivan, of Fort Worth, TX, and Tom Lewis, of Cle Elum, WA, are just one shot back of Goode at +3, respectively. Players are competing on the Ghost Creek Course, which is a par 71 Bob Cupp design that opened in 1992 and has hosted several major events.
Special thanks to the staff and membership at Pumpkin Ridge for their gracious hospitality in hosting the event, and to Callaway Golf for their sponsorship of the Society of Seniors.
