RESULTS: 41st Ralph Bogart Tournament
JUPITER, Fla. – It was a spectacular day for round one of the 41st Ralph Bogart Tournament hosted by Abacoa Golf Club in Jupiter, FL, as 84 players teed it up on the Joe Lee design that was opened in 1999.
Doug Clapp, of Manomet, MA, finished with a flurry of birdies on his final three holes to post the first round lead at 4-under par 68 in the Senior division. Claud Cooper, of Birmingham, AL, and Pat Stayer, of Dallas, TX, are just one stroke behind at 3-under.
In the Super Senior division, James Pearson, of Charlotte, NC leads by one after his round of 2-under par 70. Sitting just a stroke back are Donny Phillips, of Suwanee, GA, and Robert Allen, of Johns Creek, GA.
The low round of the day belonged to Stephen Fox, of Pinehurst, NC, after his brilliant round of 5-under par 67. He leads the Legend division by five strokes over Bob Casamento, of Palm Coast, FL, who fired an even par 72. Paul Schlachter, of Naples, FL, is in third at 1-over.
Johnny Blank, of Frostburg, MD, carded four birdies against a lone bogey to post 4-under 68 and leads the Super Legend division by four strokes. In second place is Frank Polizzi, of Plymouth Meeting, PA. New York’s Maury Povich is in third place at 1-over 73.
